The Meal
my sketch
I want to give my meal some kind of sculpture feelings, but I also want to make my plates seem usable so I don't want my sculpture part to take too much space of the plate. My idea is kind of in between of Patti Warashina and Arthur Halvorsen's works below. My meal probably will not be too big. And I may keep those plates and bowls not too complicated because I would like to focus more on some figures inside the plates. My design may relate to the sea and the sea creature because I want to make those plates for a seafood meal.

My idea was influenced by this artwork because I really like this artist's idea which made this piece not only a plate, but also a sculpture, a highly three dimensional form.

I also think this piece is interesting because the artist made those plates unique by adding small animal figures. And I think it is a good idea that the artist chose to higher those figures because it makes those plates seem not too hard to clean, and those figures are not taking too much space of the plates so they look more usable.
